Transition Time in Admissions

It's been a while since I last was able to write, but I was lucky enough to take some vacation time to visit friends and do some traveling in Spain, so I think it's a valid reason for blog neglect. I hope you can understand. :)

So of course, I'll start there. First, you have to understand that I studied abroad in Seville, Spain when I was a Lehigh student and loved every second. In fact, my trip there was 10 years ago, almost to the day. Overall, it was an amazing trip to Barcelona, Formentera, Toledo, and Madrid; of course, I'm already planning another trip back for some time in the future to return to southern Spain. Of course that will probably take place on the 20 year anniversary of my first trip there, but why not start planning now? I'm clearer a dreamer and planner....

While I was gone, here in the office it was decided that we would not use the waitlist for this fall. We are once again just slightly over our target, which is certainly better than being below, but it is sad that we won't be able to extend any other offers.

We have continued to improve the condition of our office - some fresh coats of paint, improved lighting, and/or desk changes for a few of us. As dorky as it is, I'm super excited to have a return on my desk now - the L shaped desk gives me so much more room to do work. I have wanted this for years, and now it's reality! Woohoo!

The past 2+ months also brough vacation season. It is tough to find time in this job to take time off, so late May, June, and July typically brings light staffing and quiet work time. There are many projects to do - all of those things we can't get to while we're traveling in the fall or reading applications in the winter. So the quiet office time is actually very nice.

It's August now, so it appears that vacation time is coming to an end. While that is sad, it does mean that the students will be coming back soon! This campus is really alive when they are here during the year, so it's always nice to have them back on campus.

I'll leave it at that for now - and will be back soon with more tales from the summer.
